KUGA - the abbreviation for the Croatian word for Cultural association - is the intercultural center of this region an reflects its manyfoldness concerning cultures and language. KUGA is an association. Its main aims are:
  • to promote multilinguality in Burgenland
  • to organize cultural events
  • to widen the supply situation concerning culture and education in the region
  • to promote creative activity
  • to promote intercultural communication by the help of courses, workshops, discussions

The association was founded in 1982 because of the lack of cultural activity and the high migration rate in the region. The founders did not want to watch the dying of the villages and the loss of the language. Now as before the main aim of KUGA is to remedy this deficit, to stop the creeping assimilation and to liven the region up.
